Solid tempo likely with Early Bird, Timetoplaythegame and Madiran prominent. VESPHIRE (6) has not had much luck lately, and was a fair sixth last time out, getting a long way back over 1400m at Ruakaka, running on too late. She has been placed in her only start on this track, and just needs the gaps to come at the right time, to have the last say here. TIMETOPLAYTHEGAME (2) showed good early speed last start, and stuck to his task gamely for fourth on a very puggy track over 1300m at Te Rapa 17 days ago. He has also been placed on this track, which is a big advantage, and he should be right in the finish again. JUST CALL ME JONNY (1) returns from a six-month break and made good progress in some better fields last season. He has not had any public trials, but is sure to be ready to rumble fresh up. Watch the market moves. WAY OUT WEST (5) was not far away, fresh up in a good field at Ellerslie 11 days ago. She strips fitter and is well worth including in all combinations. LIVE ON AIR (7) resumes from a spell and can get some of this. Don't risk MADIRAN (12). SUGGESTED PLAY: Vesphire can win this, and maybe Madiran at a big price for combos.
