The race lacks early speed so doubt they will go too hard.
BRUCKHEIMER (2) lined up for the tenth time and recorded his sixth minor placing when narrowly defeated last start over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. Starting to test the patience but this extra trip at the third run back looks ideal. Must win one soon. Another perennial placegetter is CHICAGO KING (3) who last appeared a fortnight ago when a distant third over 1600m at Eagle Farm. Back sharply in trip and has drawn terribly but he always finds his way into the finish. STAR VENTURE (7) was beaten under two lengths when fresh from a spell over 1000m at Kembla recently. Won't find this as tough and the extra furlong helps. Genuine contender. TIDAL POINT (14) found 1000m a bit slick when resuming at the Sunshine Coast last start. Draws a far better gate and drops four kilos under this scale so she is worth an each-way wager. The lightly raced PARADING GUS (11) returned in good order last time and just needs luck from the sticky gate to be in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hard to be too confident here - slight preference for Bruckheimer.
