First Gear is expected to cross from a wide alley and lead. ROYAL SOVEREIGNS (6) is a talented mare who last raced over 1600m in the LR Dunedin Guineas at Wingatui. She resumes in easier company, and with a couple of trials under her belt, she will be ready to rumble. KASUKEDO (1) was last seen finishing eighth over 1300m at Cambridge on the poly track in late July. He is down in class for his return, and a turf surface as long as it is not too wet, will suit him. Each way. FIRST GEAR (4) needed his first run back from a spell and will be much better for it. The key this time is having Bruno Queiroz replace an apprentice. Stick with him. TRAUMA (9) was not far away at Trentham last start, and a wide draw won't be a problem on a heavy track here. Stick with him. SUGGESTED PLAY: First Gear each way.
