Good pressure from the outset with Think Of One, Li'l Grug and North Terrace taking up the running over Heliconia and Phoenix Legend. PHOENIX LEGEND (4) had his second race for the local Beer yard beaten 1.6L here over 1300m when he was positioned forward. Tackles the mile for the first time but the former Victorian maps well and has more to give. Nicely placed to get the prize. HELICONIA (7) placed here stepping up to the mile and can build on that. Draws a little awkwardly but will be further improved. SHADASHI (9) may be the best of the Edward Cummings pair. She has laid down solid figures both starts this preparation off wide gates and draws inside today. Has plenty up her sleeve and Latham replaces the apprentice. Ready to fire. HIGHLAND LAD (1) was narrowly beaten twice this distance range at Newcastle and hasn't had the best of it the two starts since. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and improved effort is on the cards. NORTH TERRACE (3) presents third up for Cummings and has the blinkers on for the first time. There's improvement to come. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Phoenix Legend.
