Bec Thomas MLC for Elwick Maiden 1200m
Genuine tempo from Dubai Affair leading Cardiosphere. TRIBAL COUNCIL (4) drifted well back last start before winding up strongly to miss an unlikely win by a nose this track/distance. Keeps the handy 2kg claim and is likely to settle close. Fitter and will be tough to beat. DUBAI AFFAIR (11) brings a string of narrow defeats to resumption. Has been off the scene for a while but she's impressed at the trials and top hoop is booked. Draws an outside barrier but has the early speed to manage that. UPHEAVAL (8) went well enough here on debut and with the extra fitness and experience can get some of the cash. RAGING WATERS (2) may be next best dropping back to a sprint, freshened up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Tribal Council with the race fitness. |

Mingari + Co Class 1 Hcp 1100m
Hot pace certain with Artillery Fire, Magnolia Sky and Novalargo keen to take up the running. MAGNOLIA SKY (6) just missed here on debut and then came back and belted the Maidens by 4L from the front. Drawn to go forward again and keeps Burke's handy 3kg claim. Fitter again and she looks capable of taking the next step. NOVALARGO (7) brings a comfortable Launceston Maiden win to resumption and won a recent Longford trial by a space. Jumps from an inside barrier and may control the race. Will be naturally improved and has to be considered. ZAMBEZI BLONDE (3) resumes off a Maiden win here and keeps the in-form Byrne Burke. Has upside and keep safe as well. ROUNDLE PARK (5) peaks and disappointed when backed off the map at Launceston a month ago. He may be worth another chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Magnolia Sky. |

Magic Millions BM64 Hcp 2020m
From their wide draws Speed Rock and Johnnie Pinch can establish a strong tempo. Competitive. ROYAL DISPATCH (3) won a 60 and then stepped up to this distance at Launceston and was narrowly beaten in stronger, positioning forward. The 2kg claim offsets some of the weight rise and he draws to advantage. Can improve again and bounce back. JOHNNIE PINCH (1) found one too good seeking the hat-trick in Open grade. Needs luck pushing forward but finds easier and the 3kg claim brings him into it. NO RUMOURS (8) brings strong form from Victoria on an 11-day return. He did a good job last time beaten 1.5L at Sandown-Hillside over 2400m, and should manage the return to a middle distance. The wide gate is a niggle but he has John Allen in the saddle and is up to this. MILES 'N' MILES (7) would have a hope putting his best foot forward. Uses the low barrier and forget the latest when he was outgraded. RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (5) disappointed back to a mile, but the form this distance prior would see him competitive. Newitt replaces the 3kg apprentice. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Royal Dispatch. |

Aviso TAS Insurance Brokers Strutt Stakes 2020m
Jenni The Cat, Daytona Diva and Missy Aggravation can set a genuine tempo. DAYTONA DIVA (4) steps up from a mile for the first time, and she may provide the sternest competition. Has been heavily supported her last three, including in the 1000 Guineas last time. She has scope for further improvement. AURORA RISE (7) recorded her Maiden win last start over 1755m at Geelong. Is lightly raced and has plenty of upside. This is obviously tougher but she's in good hands and John Allen will give her every chance from the handy barrier. MISSY AGGRAVATION (8) pushed forward and went on to record a determined Maiden win over 1525m at Geelong. Tougher for her as well but she will keep improving and the inside barrier benefits. FIERCE 'N FABULOUS (6) continues to race well and while a niggle at the trip, has to be kept safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Daytona Diva. |

Ladbrokes Community Sports Series Maiden/Class 1 1600m
From a wide gate Alpine Honey has the speed to cross and lead a low-pressure affair. WYNDINTHEWILLOWS (12) stepped up to this trip and just missed at Launceston. The former Victorian has more to give and finally draws an inside barrier. The 2kg claim is handy and she's on a 9-day return. SOUTH GEORGIA (9) is busting to win and brings a narrow defeat this track/trip in tougher grade. Will need some luck pushing forward from a cruel gate but has a senior hoop aboard today and that may come. KISS MY ROCK (3) is a Victorian who would be right in the finish on song. Hasn't had the best of it his last two, but there will be no excuses today with John Allen positioning him from a handy barrier. BLOOMING EDGE (2) comes back from a middle distance but has been threatening to win and keeps Newitt. A hope with average luck. Ditto MERLIN BEACH (8), who is second-up with plenty in the tank. SUGGESTED PLAY: Wyndinthewillows appeals most. |

Winning Edge Presentations Class 6 1000m
Expecting a solid pace primarily from Alpine Thunder. This is a good contest. MS TASMANIA (3) is a well-performed mare ready to fire. She has won both third-up outings and prior to spelling missed a whisker at Launceston in the 3YO Classic. Has been kept on the fresh side and gets the nod. GEEGEES MISSILE (7) is a model of consistency and is busting to win her fifth race from 10 starts. Brings strong form from Open 3s and tumbles in weight. Benefits from an inside gate and jockey Craig Williams' engagement. PRINCE OF KHATUN (8) comes out of the same race as the above and there was nothing between them. brought spacious synthetic wins to that and has the form hoop aboard today. ALPINE THUNDER (1) led and won a 68 at Hobart by a space (SP$2.3). Will get every chance to control the race and will take some catching. POPILITA (4) will be around the mark forgiving the latest. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Ms Tasmania. |

Kevin Sharkie Mystic Journey Stakes 1200m
Sanniya to take charge ahead of Press For Boom at a solid tempo. SANNIYA (9) has the early speed to make short work of the outside gate and will take a stack of beating. She has been backed off the map, winning her last three and is still on an upward trajectory. The extra 100m should hold no fears, and Newitt stays aboard. MISS ICELANDIC (4) has been kept fresh since finding the Listed Black Pearl at Geelong a bit rich. Just missed in a 74 at Caulfield Heath prior and that stacks up for this. Has been kept up to the mark with a jumpout and Luke Currie rides. ZANY GIRL (10) has raced well and Listed and Group level and will be better for the first-up outing. Proven second-up and Craig Williams will steer from an inside gate. She has each way claims as well. PRESS FOR BOOM (8) wasn't far off Sanniya last start and has to be included off the back of that effort. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sanniya is hard to risk. |

Wrest Point Thomas Lyons Stakes 1400m
Solid tempo anticipated with Sushi Express leading the way. DURAZZO (5) brings a string of Tassie wins at this level and has been freshened 42 days. Has won 11/14 and can add to that record today. JIMMY THE BEAR (2) found a place third-up in the Gold Reef Quality at Flemington over a mile and will be better for it. The shorter trip won't be an issue and he'll jump from an inside barrier. Rates a winning chance. STEPARTY (1) also has decent claims presenting off his near miss over 1400m in the Kensington Stakes at Flemington. Has John Allen aboard and should get every chance. WELWAL (4) resumes for a top Melbourne barn and is right up to this if presented on song. He's a multiple Group 3 winner and has jumped out well. An inside barrier is a slight niggle, but he's sure to feature. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with the local Durazzo. |

Ladbrokes Hobart Cup 2400m
A solid tempo on the cards with Blonde Star taking charge. Maher-trained ZIRYAB (8) led but failed to place over 2500m in the Pakenham Cup and then came off the freshen and got caught wide here over 2200m in the Summer Cup. Further excused given he was found to have a high heart rate and slow recovery. Jumped a $2 favourite in that and must have pleased since. Has the numbers and tumbles in weight. Deserves another chance. BOLD SOUL (1) has been building nicely into this. His 0.8L defeat two back over 2000m in a Flemington 100 reads well, and he's sure to appreciate the step up to the staying distance. TARAMANSOUR (2) let down quickly and won the Pakenham Cup by a space. Forget Caulfield last time when he was back plenty in distance off a 42-day freshen. He'll be a lot tougher to beat today. Maher also has STRAWBERRY ROCK (4) engaged. He won this race last year and was last seen 39 days ago when beaten less than 2L over 2800m in the Bagot Handicap. It's a bit of an ask, but he has to be respected. WINEGLASS BAY (7) is a local well in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Ziryab. |

Graham Family Funerals Class 2 Hcp 1400m
Expecting a strong gallop with I'm Keefe and Coastal Strike taking up the running over Hububbajahn. NAVARRE RIVER (4) brings compelling form and was last seen 42 days ago when beaten 1L this track. Has a low draw and handy 2kg claim and will be on song for 'Cup Day'. Should have them covered. ROYAL INFANTRY (3) has skipped over from Victoria and presents off a good win over 1400m at Camperdown. That form is good enough to see him in the finish. GEEGEEHAILSTORM (9) disappointed last time but just missed here the two prior in better grade. Has a top hoop aboard and will sit forward from a low gate. HUBUBBAJAHN (10) peaks and prepared to forgive her latest effort when she led and folded up at Launceston as a $2.6 favourite. She'd come back to racing much improved and has been kept on the fresh side. She can get into the money with average luck from the cruel gate. CARNELIAN ROCK (14) maps for a soft run and is heading in the right direction. Carries just 52kg with the claim and is also the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Navarre River. |
