NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:00 Eureka Concrete 3YO Maiden Plate 1400m
Solid tempo anticipated with Kazza Joy and Lennystar leading the way. Not much separates the better ones. VILA MOON (9) didn't enjoy the slow track at Swan Hill and then ran a much better race when placing third here, dropping back to this trip. Maps well and is ready to break through. KILMER (2) presents at peak fitness and a leading course striker is engaged. He's in a form stable and is having his first crack on the all-weather. KAZZA JOY (4) was only beaten 2L here first-up and is still shy of his best. He's up to winning, but the outside barrier is a niggle. LENNYSTAR (5) should get all the favours in the run and will be in the finish putting his best foot forward.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Vila Moon.
2 01:30 Manhari Maiden Plate 1400m
Not much early pressure but Frosty Night, Nicoffhome and Sweater Girl can take up forward spots. TAUNG (4) resumes and has shown promise in better company. Kicking off at 1400m won't be an issue and we expect him to be ready to go. Has an awkward barrier but is suited. SWEATER GIRL (10) resumed here with a solid effort this trip and then was beaten by the same margin on the course proper. Fitter again and John Allen is a key jockey engagement. Maps to get every chance. FROSTY NIGHT (6) has been busting to win on wet tracks in the country and has his first try on the all-weather. Has the blinkers on first time and will get some of the cash. KITTYHAWK (7) just missed this track/trip two back but was plainer last time. Has been briefly freshened, but note John Allen gets off.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Taung is hard to go past.
3 02:45 Global Turf Maiden Plate 2100m
Solid tempo anticipated with Izola heading them off. Tough. SO VOGUE (5) has strong relative middle distance on dry tracks and should enjoy going on to the all-weather. Has to manage a wide barrier but a senior rider is back on and with average luck he'll go close. Metro-trained EN MER (1) went close over a mile and then wasn't beaten far at Wangaratta last time. Steps up to this trip for the first time and Newitt is engaged for the first time. He's a live chance. SPOT THE GREY (6) has found one better here twice over 1500m and gives every indication the 2100m will suit. He'll give away a start but should finish hard. OCCASIONAL GLIMPSE (12) has needed her two turf runs this preparation over a mile and is looking for this distance. Maps well, and the barn has a favourable record at the track. IZOLA (10) is a likely improver from the Waller yard.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with So Vogue.
4 03:08 McGrath Ballarat BM70 Handicap 2200m
Capulet should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. AFRICAN PIONEER (1) was beaten a whisker here last time when stepping up to this distance range and is still shy of his best number. He was 61 days fresh for that and has been freshened 41 days for this. Has a handy 2kg claim and can go back-to-back. CAPULET (2) needs this trip and has set a solid foundation over a mile. Her middle-distance metro form reads well, and the 2kg claimer will position her forward. A player. SHADEELAA (5) is a stablemate of the top selection and is also going well enough to feature. The wide barrier was against her here last time, and she draws somewhat better for this. QUITE THE LASS (6) is up to this at best and made solid inroads on the Pakenham synthetic 8 days ago. She'll be around the mark if things go her way.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing African Pioneer.
5 03:30 Porter Plant Maiden Plate 1100m
Many of these step out for the first time so a genuine tempo is expected. Tricky and the race day betting will be instructive. OLYMPIAD (10) debuts and has looked sharp at the jumpouts. The McEvoy yard flies at the track and gets them going early. John Allen is a key jockey booking, and a bold run is likely. MISS KASEI (12) led and was narrowly beaten here first-up and will keep improving for a leading metro yard. Maps low and Meech sticks and may control the race. She sets a decent standard. GIRLCANCHAT (4) jumped out well and did a good job placing her on debut. Strips fitter and should be right in the finish. ZIGGY PLAYS GUITAR (13) was an unplaced favourite on debut and may have had excuses. Resumes today and placed at his latest jumpout. Has ability and has to be kept safe.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Olympiad.

Mr Blunt can take up the running at a strong tempo. Genuine tempo with Mr Blunt likely to find himself in front. McEvoy-trained MR BLUNT (2) won two jumpouts and then led and blitzed the Maidens here by 9L when backed off the map. Has a handy gate, and the leading course striker is aboard. Stripping fitter she should have them well covered. ROWDY ANTHEM (8) had the drop on the leaders here last time and closed off well to fill a minor placing. The longer sprint will suit and the 3kg claim brings him into it. JORDY GIRL (5) resumed at Wagga in a 66 and will be better for it. She's proven second-up and has raced well in stronger races in town. Has a low gate and 2kg claim, and her all-weather form is positive. Keep well onside. NORDIC (4) is third up and going well. A track specialist who always puts in.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Hard to go past the promising Mr Blunt.

Supervise and Cool Charlie can be prominent. SUPERVISE (1) led and was an easy Maiden winner at Seymour first-up, and then the big money came again here when she was beaten a whisker in a 64. Carries just 1K more after the claim and has the early speed to make short work on the awkward barrier. Strips fitter again and rates to bounce back. COOL CHARLIE (4) also races forward and has been within range at his last two starts, both on turf. He has a strong record at this track/distance and can make the finish. Ditto BRAVE CAROL (3), who delivered a deserved Maiden win here 18 days ago, and she has plenty of scope for improvement. She should enjoy the run of the race. REDNECK PRINCESS (12) has been racing on wet tracks and placed at Wangaratta last time seeking the hat-trick. Has a low barrier and 3kg claim, and the longer sprint won't bother. She's placed on all-weather and should be around the mark.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Supervise.

Solid tempo with several going forward headed by Savamoon. SAVAMOON (7) is in a leading barn and found more like his best narrowly beaten this track/trip from the speed. He's likely to control the race and keeps the handy 2kg claim. He can go one better. ABSOLUTE SUNSHINE (2) is also in good hands and found one much too good here last time in better grade and also ran the quinella prior behind the same galloper. Has the inside gate today, and he profiles as a danger. EX MACHINA (6) draws out but will push forward. He was a big Maiden winner this track/trip last time and has been kept on the fresh side. RUNWAY RULER (3) likes to run along and improved again when just beaten in a country 64. Disappointed in Adelaide following (vet cleared) and will find this more suitable on a 28-day return. Better suited today and is sure to give a sight.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Savamoon.
