Expecting Nasha Mala to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. LUVABEEL (6) ran a strong race last start, finishing second as favourite over 1400m at Taupo after a spell. She is bred to improve with more racing, and even though 1400m is probably a touch short for her, she is still only second up, and in this field, she is the one to beat. NASHA MALA (8) showed plenty of early speed last time, leading most of the way before finishing a game third, over 1400m here just over 3 weeks ago. She doesn't have to lead, and with a more patient ride this time from a tougher gate, she can win a race like this. SHAMWARI (2) last raced five months ago, finishing fourth over 2100m at Hawera. He has won the most recent of his 2 tune-up trials, and with Craig Grylls in the saddle, he has to be respected. KUDOS (1) and SMART TIP (5) are both solid each-way chances in this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Luvabeel is the one to beat in this.
