SOUTH BAY HANDICAP 1200m Track: STANDARD
Awesome Treasure to take charge ahead of Lahore at a solid tempo. LAHORE (6) flew home over 1000m here last week when jumping the race favourite and looks primed to go to another level now second-up. Purton sticks with the gelding and although he's drawn wide, he does possess some early speed. Can raise the bar now and notch up his maiden win. CALIFORNIA BLITZ (11) resumes on a good note with a 1.3L defeat over this trip at Happy Valley where he sat on the speed and was strong to the line. Suspect he'll be fitter for that effort with just one trial between runs. Maps to be prominent in the run and can put his best foot forward. DECISION LINK (3) jumped a $33 chance on debut but was an eye catcher late in the race as he stormed home from well back. Suspect he'll be back in the run again, but it wouldn't surprise to see him improve sharply with that run under his belt. KING PROFIT (1) is a first-up winner previously and turned in a nice trial in readiness for this. Can feature.
