Just a modest pace in store without noted speed runners engaged. MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE (1) settled well back then let down impressively to be beaten under a length when resuming over 1100m at Canterbury last start. Has won two out of two when second-up. Perfectly placed to add to that record over an extra 100m today on a roomier track. THEBLADE (6) resumed last time out in Saturday company in Brisbane and did a fair job to finish fourth to the handy Spywire over this distance at Doomben. Kept fresh since that appearance 46 days ago. Should go on to bigger things this prep. GOLDEN STRAAND (8) had a seven-week let-up prior to his eye-catching fourth last start over 1100m at Canterbury. Will find this more to his liking so another big run is on the cards. Last start Gosford winner BARTOLF (2) has been kept fresh since that success at BM64 level on 29 August. Looks one of the leading contenders again. JACOB'S LADDER (7) comfortably accounted for his Class 1 rivals at Kembla recently. Tougher this time but there is room to improve at the third run back. SUGGESTED PLAY: Midnight Dynamite just gets the nod in a race of many chances.
