Stareese should lead but there are a few other speedy types who can keep him honest. ROAR OF THE JUNGLE (1) was well-backed when resuming last start off the back of a promising trial, but only managed fifth on a track that he found too heavy over 1200m at Matamata nearly 3 weeks ago. He strips fitter, and on a firmer surface, he is the one to beat. Follow your money. MISS FLADGATE (7) hasn’t raced since finishing well back here as favourite over 1200m at this track in late May. She has been tuned up with a recent trial, and can kick this season off on the right note. Each way. ACER (11) shows promise and resumes with a recent trial win under her belt. Each way. CHEERIO (12) is making her debut with the advantage of a good draw. Let the market be your best guide. ZERRE (8) had an excuse last time out and was building her form nicely before that.
