Precinct to take charge ahead of Presley at a strong tempo. CAPTAIN MAVERICK (3) has been near the top of betting recently but will go around at double-figure odds here. Strung together four minor placings before a disappointing effort over 1550m at Canterbury last start when on a seven-day back-up. Yet to miss the frame in three runs at this trip so he can certainly bounce back. UNITED KINGDOM (7) settled last in a small field then worked home well last time out over 1550m at Canterbury. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and is ideally placed out to this distance. Starting to look a bit like a non-winner but he gets his chance. SAN GIOVANNI (10) was seven weeks between runs when down the track in the G3 Ming Dynasty recently. Fitter and a real threat back in this company. DALE (6) and SIRIUS LEGEND (5) are both racing well this prep and cannot be ruled out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Captain Maverick each-way.
