Off the low draw Quick Shot should lead at a genuine tempo. AMAHNI'S GIRL (2) led beaten 2.3L over 1830m at Eagle Farm in a 70 and then was expected to win a 66 at Grafton over 2299m and was beaten a whisker. Has an awkward barrier to deal with, but the 2kg claim is handy, and he's won at the track. This is winnable with average luck. WATERMELON (1) improved again just missing over this trip at Doomben in stronger, where he led them up. He's raced well here and benefits from a 3kg claim. He has the early pace to skip over and position forward, and can go one better. WILLIE, OR WONG HE (7) got too far back from a wide gate in tougher at Doomben, but had delivered his Maiden here over 1900m by 4.4L prior. The gate is less onerous today, and he can bounce back without surprise. LAUNCHER (4) was straight back in the winners' circle winning a CL1 easily on the Gold Coast turf. Has a wide gate but won't be far away. BRAIN WAVE (9) will be fitter and is also in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Amahni's Girl.
