Solid tempo with Velaris possessing enough dash to find the front.
WINNING RULET (7) surprised a few when she won her maiden first-up from a six-month spell over this distance at Kembla. Took a while for the penny to drop but may be worth following now. The lightly raced MANE CHARACTER (8) also collected her maiden win when returning from a six-month break recently, chiming in late to just arrive in time over 1200m at Gosford. Draws a far better gate today so another win is not out of the question. CHEEKY SMIRK (2) settled midfield then let down nicely but found one better last time out over this distance at Kembla. Racing well and is a threat in what looks a slightly easier assignment. MARCHON (3) was lining up for only the third time when he won his maiden at prohibitive odds recently over today's distance at Canberra. Tricky gate but should roll forward and give a good account. SILVER TEMPEST (4) resumes. Progressed nicely last prep and a couple of decent trials in April suggest he is ready for a positive return. SUGGESTED PLAY: Winning Rulet to win again.
