An absence of early speed provides Gong Girl with the opportunity to lead.
COSMIC EAGLE (3) has contested some strong form races of late and was performing well until a mediocre effort last start at the Kensington track. Given a 38-day let-up to clean out the cobwebs. Perfectly drawn and can bounce back in this suitable contest. BALMORAL CASTLE (2) raced back in the field after copping an early check then rallied late to finish fourth when resuming over 1100m at Wyong last time out. Ran third to Plaintiff at Rosehill at this stage last prep. Can put that last outing behind her and run a big race. LADY LONSDALE (6) was inexplicably poor at Rosehill most recently after an encouraging first-up effort at the Caulfield Heath. Worth another chance. ROYAL BOTANIC (8) closed in good style although never a threat on debut last start at Hawkesbury. Up in trip with blinkers added should see a stronger performance. GONG GIRL (5) can improve on a fair return over a shorter trip at Wyong 16 days ago. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Cosmic Eagle and Balmoral Castle.
