YAMANIN ALEXIS (9) started favourite last time over 1600m at Nakayama but found a couple better, making it three minor placings from four career starts. Looks the testing material in a race that lacks quality. TSUKIN KAISOKU (14) missed the frame when resuming last start over 1600m at Nakayama but wasn't all that far from the winner. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. Expected to be in the finish. UPTURN DAY (5) is on debut for the Fujioka stable. Three-year-old colt by New Year's Day from Upward Spiral.
