Alalcance should lead but there are a few other speedy types who can keep her honest. BELLA MONTAGNA (7) looked to be headed for victory here a fortnight ago in the Premiers Cup over 2400m but her run ended in the last 50m. Rock hard fit after three runs back. Looks hard to beat on 53kgs with a bit of Waterhouse/Bott spit and polish. HIGHLAND BLING (5) did a tremendous job to finish a close third in the Sydney Cup two back, hot on the heels of his second placing in the Adelaide Cup. Needed the run here a fortnight ago. Will be finding the line when others are raising the white flag. ALALCANCE (1) scored a brave win over 2400m here last start. Third-up from an eight-week break so she has improvement to come. ETNA ROSSO (2) placed in this race last year with 0.5kgs more. Ready to improve. SUGGESTED PLAY: Bella Montagna gets the nod.
