Solid tempo anticipated with Released and Popinjay matching motors. RELEASED (1) resumes after a short break and is capable of much better than his final run of his last prep when he had a genuine excuse for his poor effort. He is stronger now, and even without a tune-up trial, he is the one to beat. BORROWED TIME (2) remains a maiden after 6 starts but has shown enough ability to be considered a genuine top 4 chance in a race of this nature. His latest effort over 1600m at Hastings was sound and he should be in the mix. POPINJAY (5) returned with an encouraging third at Awapuni on the poly track there nearly 2 weeks ago, and he should take improvement from that outing. He cops a wide gate, but he is still a solid top 4 chance. SHOCHITA (9) ran on powerfully for second on debut, and she has won a trial since then. Each way. SUGGESTED PLAY: Released is the one to beat.
