MICHAEL BAROWS (10) booted up from the inside draw to lead when returning from a spell last start and was there on straightening before being claimed and finishing one length away in second over 1200m at Kyoto. Not a lot of quality to this race so he should be going one better. VIRGIL (8) finds it hard to win with just one success from 14 starts. Again tasted defeat last start when seventh over 1600m at this track, beaten 3 lengths. Placed to advantage so expect a big run. BRIGHT AGAIN (3) is experiencing a long win drought, extended last start when fourth over 1200m at Kyoto. Likely improver with strong each-way prospects. FIORANO (12) didn't do a bad job last start, finishing sixth and beaten 1.5 lengths at Niigata over 1200m. Well placed to fill a top four spot.
