FURSTON (1) is a promising type who tried hard when finishing a close third over 1200m at Tauranga, beaten less than a length. The addition of blinkers is the key, and he is the one to beat. MR CHOW (2) has been competitive in both of his starts this prep and wasn't far away when fifth at Hawera nearly 4 weeks ago after racing prominently throughout. He has Jonathan Riddell in the saddle third up, and he can figure in the top 3 here. SWORD OF STEEL (4) is a juvenile son of Sword Of State, making his debut for the powerful Walker/Bergerson stable. A recent Avondale trial win was full of merit and any market confidence would be worth following. OLD FASHIONED (3) is a well-bred colt by Proisir making his debut. He hails rom an astute stable and is likely to have been well educated. The market will be good guide. ALONOTAS (5) did not race up to his handy trial form on debut and was put aside to mature. He was runner-up at another recent trial, and is worth including fresh. SUGGESTED PLAY: Furston to win this.
