SANDOWN-HILLSIDE   13 Jun 2026

GOING: S(7)

Thoroughbred Club of Australia Handicap 1200m

Track: SOFT7   Rain (Max: 17)   Rail: Out 6m Entire Circuit.

Freshen and Cresta Crystal possess good early speed. Off last start, BRILLIANT HORIZON (2) is clearly the one to beat. She resumed on the Lakeside circuit and destroyed them from the front on heavy ground, winning by 2.25 lengths. Up in grade here but it doesn't look a whole lot tougher and she'll give a huge sight again. DAVIDA (1) is the interesting one first up. She was very well backed to beat Observer and Planet Red in a G2 before a break but couldn't handle the pressure up on speed. A couple of wins prior rated well, it's just how forward she is here. RACE FOR RULE (8) broke through for a dominant maiden win when last seen at Pakenham over 1400m and should be strong late. AMPING LASS (6) was behind Brilliant Horizon last time but is racing well and has claims. AFTERBERNA (9) is a handy filly who sets up well and is in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Brilliant Horizon to win.

Resumes after a break of four-and-a-half months and has been in the money when fresh before. Finished off last preparation second last of 12 at Caulfield in the G2 Autumn Stks February 7 over 1400m, 11 len behind Observer carrying 55kg at $4. Previously first up; second last of 8 at Caulfield in the LR Twilight Glow November 29 over 1400m, soft track; 8 len behind Ruska Roma carrying 56kg at $13. Looks forward enough after a recent trial win. Did some good things last prep, wary.
