Phoenician to take the lead and control the tempo. CATCH A BREAK (2) looks a different horse for the new stable. Bounced out of the good first-up run to score in dominant style last week. That was a pretty weak race, but backing up can be considered a positive and 2000m shouldn't be an issue. BEARBRASSBLACKFISH (1) also rises to 2000m, and while there has got to be some doubt about him at that distance given his on-pace style, Kilmore is a track that can favour those on-speed. EX MACHINA (6) relished getting to 2000m last start, only going under narrowly, and with that under his belt he should be primed for a peak performance. PHOENICIAN (5) might have had his birthday two runs back and is dropping sharply in trip on the last start performance but has been too consistent this prep to discount. HOLLY'S STAR (9) is another back in trip, having been outclassed in BM70 grade at Bendigo, but was a little stiff the start prior over 1862m so she can play a role. SUGGESTED PLAY: Catch A Break each-way.
