Just a moderate speed anticipated given the absence of on-pace gallopers. SHOTARO (5) was responsible for a solid effort last time out when second at Warracknabeal over 2000m, beaten 1.3 lengths. Should be at his peak now and get blinkers, which could prove the missing ingredient. RAINEY (9) stepped out on her debut over 1600m at Ballarat four weeks ago and finished fifth, beaten 2.25 lengths. Much better for that run and can get off the mark this time from the good gate. WOOLLEN (12) is another who looks a stayer of some promise and will find this easier than last start. A repeat of the run prior would see him go close. EGYPTIAN LEGEND (11) finished 3 lengths away in fifth at her last appearance over 2007m at this track on March 31. Suited in this lineup and is among the better hopes. EXPLAIN (7) finished out of the money when fresh two starts back then was beaten 5.5 lengths when seventh in a 2007m contest at this track two-and-a-half weeks ago. Better for those two runs back and strikes the right race to improve. SUGGESTED PLAY: Shotaro to win.
