GOING: G

Vale Paul Gardner Handicap 1200m

Track: Good   Clear (Max: 28)   Rail: True.

Scissor Me Timbers should lead at a keen tempo. POMPEII EMPIRE (6) resumed with a narrow defeat in a 66 over this distance. Had been racing in South Australia and has more to offer. Has the rail and small claim and is proven second-up. ZESTIMAN (7) hit the frame two starts ago at this track but disappointed as a $3.8 favourite this grade/distance following. Is still well shy of his South Australian best and deserves another chance. MOUGENOT (1) was quickly back on track narrowly beaten in the same contest. Draws awkwardly again but will be hitting the line. THE GIRL'S BOY (2) was outgraded over 1600m last time but delivered a 70 prior over 1400m. Come back 400m but maps for a soft run and a bounce isn't out of the question. DEMIQUAVER (4) resumes and is good enough to deserve a betting watch. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leaning to Pompeii Empire.
