GOING: G(4)

DCE Alister Clark Stakes 2000m

Track: GOOD 4   Clear (Max: 22)   Rail: True Entire Circuit.

A race that lacks pace so expect a muddling tempo at best. They'll struggle to beat PLANET RED (1) who brings the clearly superior form having rattled home to finish 2nd to Observer in both runs this time in. The pace was on first up at 1400m but they didn't go fast in the G1 Australian Guineas last time so his effort to get within half a length was outstanding. This looks much easier, Zahra goes on from a middle gate and so long as they don't ride him completely cold, he should be winning. SINGLE CHOICE (2) was a determined winner of the G2 Autumn Classic last start, beating subsequent winner Arcora in the process. He'll have no issue with 2000m and can settle in front of Planet Red. KAYE JAY (12) is coming along well in his maiden campaign, fourth to Single Choice here last time. He can push forward and run well again. ROULETTE KING (9) is progressive through benchmark grades, the jump to Group class for these sorts isn't as much as it would seem. DAD AND DAVE (4) won the Tasmanian Derby when last seen and can measure up at odds. SUGGESTED PLAY: Planet Red to win.
