Washington Lilac has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. WASHINGTON LILAC (12) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1600m at Pakenham, but those races had a lot more depth than this. The 2124m, especially from a wide gate, could be some doubt given she's by Snitzel but blinkers go on here and she might give them something to catch. TE TANIWHA (8) is another lightly-raced type who looks suited at 2124m, but also has a wide gate to contend with. GUTHRIE (6) wasn't a factor on debut but will find this much more to his liking, not only in quality opposition but also distance. GOTCHA MOMENT (2) showed improvement to place last start and will be at peak fitness now. SUGGESTED PLAY: Washington Lilac to win.
