Not much early speed of note and King's Quest and Kliptown may find themselves setting a steady tempo. STEADFAST (2) looks a sharp improver. Has been racing in tougher grade off high draws last few. This more suitable and gets chance to atone. CARRIACOU (3) is usually thereabouts but finds it hard to win, with just two wins from 31 starts. Did a good job last start to finish third over 1400m at this track, beaten 1.75 lengths. In the right race and there is no reason he cannot get the major prize. CLARK GRISWOLD (6) is back from a spell of four-and-a-half months. Closed last prep as a winner, taking out a 1400m contest at Kenilworth by a long neck. Major contender. KLIPTOWN (5) was unplaced two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1200m at Kenilworth, beaten 2.25 lengths into fourth. Finds a nice race and can make amends.
