Reasonable tempo with a few going forward, headed by Gruelling. SIR RANDOLPH (8) has been knocking on the door for some time and looks to have finally found his race. He gets in well with the 3kg claim and draws ideally. Appears ready to land the winning blow. SMOTHER (2) went amiss last start over the longer journey and will appreciate dropping back in distance off a 35 day freshen. She keeps Pannell over a preferred trip and should blend into the race smoothly from her draw. Can give this a serious shake. HYSTERICAL LADY (9) possesses a sharp turn of foot on her day and looks well suited rising in trip. SAFE BET (7) got things back on track last start at headquarters when beaten narrowly. Now at peak fitness, he should have enough early speed to offset the wide alley and give supporters a sight. DUO PERNA (4) snuck up the inside to score with something in hand at Balaklava last start. This is tougher, but he has earned his chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Sir Randolph.
