KIICHI DED MIRROR (1) sets the standard through consistency, with seconds and thirds at Kochi and a strong overall record of five wins and four places from 13 starts. His latest second to Frere Filles was sound enough, and his track-and-distance record gives him the most reliable profile. NIGHT OF BUND (7) is the obvious danger after winning here by a neck as the well-supported favourite, though the margin leaves him with little room for regression. QUAD MALININ (6) has upside as a lightly raced three-year-old and has placed three times from seven starts, but his latest second was still a well-held result. TOKEN TAKAHARU (4) brings honest recent placings and nearly won two back, yet he was behind Kiichi Ded Mirror a couple of weeks ago and looks more of a value threat than the benchmark.

His previous third behind Dixie Vogue was similar, beaten five and a half lengths without threatening the winner. With five wins and four places from 13 starts, plus two wins and two places from six over this track and trip, he has the right profile to take beating. |

HIROKI NISHIYAMA 3YO BAY COLT 57.0KG Hiroyuki Kawakatsu Returned at Kochi with a second to Precious Meno, and while he finished well held, he did at least work home evenly and was respected near the top of betting. His Tokyo Dirt tenth in a 3yo Maiden two back was plain, beaten nine and a half lengths after settling back. Still a maiden, but three placings from seven starts suggest enough upside to stay in the main chances. |

That followed a fourth to Himekamino Itadaki, beaten six and a half lengths, so the latest was a genuine lift. With one win and one place from three starts here and a strong local stable behind him, he is a major player again. |
