Super Quick and Surreal Ascot possess good early speed. RIMBAUD (4) has been a model of consistency for the Archibald stable this campaign and finds another suitable contest. He'll bounce straight to the front and prove tough to run down. STARMAN (17) has warmed nicely into this campaign and should be hitting his straps now. Hasn't won for a very long time but Maloney takes over and has a great association with the stable. Big chance to break the drought. SUPERALLOY (16) doesn't win out of turn but is going better than his form reads. Pozman's 3kg claim sets him up nicely from a cosy draw. MELDUBIOUS (14) hasn't done much wrong this prep and finds another nice race. Thompson takes back over. Remains firmly in the mix. CUTEPI (9) showed a good turn of foot to emerge and score at the Sunny Coast last time. Drawn to be running on again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Rimbaud to win.

The distance is still the query, but he has placed four times from seven attempts at it and beat Starman and Superalloy last start. Only needs to hold his form to prove very tough to beat. |

Last-start favourite defeat is the knock, but his record keeps him in play. |
