Fries With That to take the lead and control the tempo. FRIES WITH THAT (5) is the one to beat on consistency, having won a 3yo+ Benchmark 56+ at Carnarvon over 1600m before being beaten just over half a length there over 1750m as the well-supported favourite. The rise to 2000m is the question, but he is racing too well to ignore. HARD QUESTIONS (1) brings the strongest class reference after missing by a neck in a 3yo+ Open at Carnarvon, and the drop from that level gives him a serious winning case despite the distance query. CANDLELIGHT SHERIF (4) was wide throughout when fifth behind Pharoah Show, yet his Junction win from Tiff's Lad keeps him in the mix for the minors. WAR COLOURS (8) is the rougher selection; recent Northam Maiden form reads poorly, but the easier country setting gives her a chance to improve enough to be competitive. SUGGESTED PLAY: Fries With That can get the cash.

The trip is the query, but he is a major player. |

That was a sharp contrast to his Mt Newman win in a 3yo+ Benchmark 56+, where he beat Torqued Up by just over seven lengths. Needs to rebound and prove the 2000m. |

The run prior had more merit, winning a 3yo+ Benchmark 62+ at Junction by three and a half lengths from Tiff's Lad despite covering ground. Junction win prior keeps him a sound place hope, though Hard Questions has his measure. |
