Genuine pace with Kevala crossing from the outside gate in search of the lead. T O MARCONI (7) improved last time out, finishing 1.75 lengths from the winner in third at the end of 2100m at Tokyo Dirt after being prominent at the corner. Goes up a rung or two but he is capable of running another bold race. SMART SPEAR (9) did well when resuming over 1700m at Kokura Dirt last start, finishing second and beaten a neck. Overall record is sound when second-up and should be better for that first-up run. Among the winning hopes. KEVALA (14) scored a commanding win at Niigata Dirt over 1800m at his latest appearance on October 19, the only time he faced the starter in that campaign. Expected to cross from wide out and is one of the main contenders. JUN LA TOUR (6) has a moderate winning strike-rate but performed well last time at Kokura Dirt, finishing fourth and only 2.5 lengths from the winner at the end of 1700m. Should be about the money.
