Not seeing a great deal of early speed. BAGGIO (1) made up a lot of late ground when finishing third over 2200m last time out on the Riccarton poly track. He is having his first run of this prep on a turf track, and in a modest field, he is among the hardest to beat. THE PEONY XPRESS (7) has shown a lot of courage in her last few races and was game in defeat when finishing fifth at Riccarton 8 days ago. She can lead this field over a mile, and her first win is not far away. TRANQUIL EYES (6) has been thereabouts recently and tries a mile again. She has a home track advantage and is worth including in all combinations. BONNIEWEKA (8) showed a bit more fight when finishing fourth after leading up at Oamaru last time out. She will be peaking third up, and can run into the money for the first time in this. FRIENDOFTHEDEVIL (9) drops back from a middle distance and is well seasoned. She meets the right sort of field, and is another with top 4 claims in a field that lacks any depth of form. SUGGESTED PLAY: The Peony Express is close to winning her first race.
