Pace looks to be genuine with Smart Artie and Rainbow Alley matching motors in advance of Specialized and I'm Chev. GEEGEES DOWNPOUR (2) impressed narrowly beaten at Hobart and then went back and delivered a comfortable Maiden win as a $3 favourite. The top hoop sticks aboard, and he's capable of taking the next step. THEM'S THE BREAKS (5) was quickly back on track beaten 1.6L at Hobart. Races here for the first time but will carry just 53kg with the claim and that brings her right into it. SMART ARTIE (3) brought strong form to resumption, beaten 1.4L. The longer sprint suits and she can make the finish with average luck. VINO NOVELLO (1) trialled like a smart horse and won here on debut heavily bet. Has a wide gate to contend with today, but has plenty of scope for improvement. RAINBOW ALLEY (6) is on a quick backup and will be around the mark again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Geegees Downpour.
