Expecting California Gold to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. SINCERE (2) has been below his best in his last couple of starts on the Riccarton poly track, and he will be having his first run back on the turf in this campaign. He won his only start on this track, and he has a great opportunity in this modest field to bounce back into form. FRANNI CACCINI (3) made the most of a good trip and some luck when scoring by a nose over 2200m last time out on the Riccarton poly track. She was due a change of fortune, and won't find this field any harder. Stick with her. KOYAMA (1) has a good record on his home track here and was an easy winner of his penultimate start at Oamaru. He just whacked away in a stronger field at Riccarton nearly a month ago, but should be more competitive in this. Stick with him. WAIHORA MIST (4) has been proving to be hard to catch, but she looks to be well placed in this, especially with the aid of a 3kg claim from the pole position. Each way value. CALIFORNIA GOLD (5) will be peaking third up, so include him in all combos. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sincere can bounce back and take this out.
