GOING: H(10)

ENTAIN/NZB INSURANCE PEARL SERIES MDN 1200M 1200m

Track: HEAVY 10     True

Reasonable tempo with Swiss Belt probably leading but a few others should keep her honest. MATAKANA PERKYNANA (1) was only beaten by a short-head as favourite at Oamaru 3 weeks ago when finishing runner-up. She is peaking at the right time, and with a kilo less to carry over the shorter trip of 1200m, she can crack that overdue maiden win. TRANQUIL EYES (2) has improved a lot this prep, and she has been racing well on the wet tracks. She is on a 6-day backup, and if the gaps come at the right time, she is good enough to win a race like this. SWISS BELT (3) is another lone time maiden who was just over a length from the winner in third place at Oamaru 3 weeks ago in a similar field to this. She is peaking at the right time and will be hard to hold out. DRACARYS (6) was put aside after racing greenly on debut at Timaru late last year. She won a recent trial at Ashburton, and in a modest field like this, she will be right in the finish. TIMEISRUNNINGOUT (5) has shown some improvement this year and should now be ready to put her best hoof forward. Each way. SUGGESTED PLAY: Matakana Perkynana is the one to beat. Include 2-3-5-6.
