Several of these have terrific gate speed so the pressure will be on from the outset. INSPECTOR JAMES (6) dropped his rider soon after the start last time out. His penultimate run when second over 1000m on the Standside course was quite eye-catching. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and if getting away to a clean start, he should set the record straight this time. HAIR TRIGGER (3) showed signs of needing his first run as a gelding. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. Stick with him on an each-way basis. SPY STORY (4) ran a fair race over this distance at the Vaal last time out. He would have come on from the run and should strip fitter. There should be improvement to come from the son of Bezrin. Watch closely. REMAINS OF THE DAY (1) produced a typical second run after a rest last start. Trent Mayhew takes the 2.5kg off his back and he should be at peak fitness. Don't rule him out of winning this.
