Only a small field with Activo likely to find a comfortable lead. M T ROUGE (1) clearly deserves top billing after a determined Mombetsu win over 1000m, where she held Sergeant Pepper by a head and was well found in betting. The main reservation is the rise to 1400m, especially given she was beaten over 11 lengths the start prior, but that last-start turnaround gives her the strongest winning platform. ACTIVO (6) is the main danger on consistency, with two Kasamatsu seconds and placings from both attempts at this distance. She still has to convert those minor placings into a win, but her profile is solid. LACRIME (2) has placed three times from five starts and was second to On Bait two runs back, though her latest third was beaten over 11 lengths. KANHIZAKURA (4) improved sharply when third at Mombetsu at big odds, but the step to 1400m asks another question.

That was a sharp turnaround from a seventh to Ryuno Achilles when unwanted and beaten over 11 lengths. Race fit now and with Tsutsui Yusuke aboard, she rates clearly, but 1400m is the new test. If she carries that toughness up in trip, she is the one they have to beat. |

Last time she was beaten nine lengths by Gifuno Oumasan after working home evenly, but the prior second to Hiruno Lugano, beaten two and a half lengths, reads well for this. Placed twice from two tries at 1400m and partnered by leading local rider Tatsuya Watanabe, she is a genuine winning threat. |
