No surprise if the newcomers played a key role in the tempo of the race with little speed on paper. PARTY REBEL (4) well-bred mare who attacked the line on debut from the wide gate with a close-up second over 1100m at Scone. Maps well today and should be able to put these away. ALMAS JEWEL (9) chipped away here on debut from the sticky gate to finish fifth over 1300m. Should come on from that effort and can race closer from the rails draw. COLUMBO (7) resumes. Took ground off the progressive Proxima Dea when fourth over 1400m at Randwick ten weeks ago. Fitter for the two searching trials and the blinkers go on. Each-way player. PIOLLA (11) stepped out on her debut at the big odds with a tidy fourth over 1212m at Coffs Harbour. Smyth sticks and the claim keeps her in the picture. SUGGESTED PLAY: Party Rebel looks too strong for this lot.
