Expecting Altstadt to take up the running with Token Renan and Navarone close at hand. ALTSTADT (9) sets the benchmark after going under by only a neck at Kochi when well found in betting, and his overall record at the track is difficult to ignore. The only small reservation is that he was beaten as a short-priced chance, but the performance still reads strongly for this. DIXIE VOGUE (4) is the obvious danger and perhaps the sharper current-form runner, having won both Kochi runs this campaign, the latest as a prohibitive odds-on favourite after having ground to make up. TOKEN RENAN (6) has to be respected off a fourth behind Win Imeru, beaten three and a half lengths, especially with a previous win at the distance, though his Ohi run two back was plain. MACHAON D'OR (10) is more of a place-based winning threat, with strong track-and-distance statistics and a fair late finish last start despite the big margin.

The class drop and past track-and-trip win are noted, but his current form leaves him with a fair bit to find. |

The start prior was far better, a third behind Or Du Souverain when beaten just over two lengths and respected in an open market. His overall place record is strong enough to keep him in calculations, but he must rebound sharply. |

That followed a ninth in 3yo+ C2 grade over 1600m, where he was beaten over 18 lengths after coming under pressure late. A past track-and-distance win offers some background, but the recent evidence is hard to support. |

Has built a compelling Kochi profile this campaign, winning here last start by just under a length from Hideno Blue Sky after having ground to make up as a prohibitive odds-on favourite. The earlier five-length win over Extra Note was even more decisive, and she is now two from two at the track. With a distance win already on the board and Minoru Miyagawa staying aboard, she is a major threat again. |

He has won at this distance and races handy enough to stay involved, making him one of the better chances if he holds that latest level. |

He has older track-and-trip credentials, but being unplaced in all 21 starts in the past 12 months is a major concern. |

Even so, a 0-from-22 track-and-distance record for four placings points more to minor money than a win case. |

The beaten-favourite tag is the query, but his form around this track is excellent, with four wins and a placing from five Kochi runs. He also put five lengths on Emeral Happy over 800m two back, so the winning habit is recent enough to make him the one to beat. |
