Strong tempo with Fleur Battle and Straddle leading from Shinano Favori and Taiyo Bond. FLEUR BATTLE (2) goes on top in a race where the exposed form is still developing. Her debut fourth over 800m at Urawa had merit: she was near the top of betting, led to the turn and was beaten four and a half lengths by Irodorino Kokoro. The move to 1400m is the key question, but she should have gained from the outing. STRADDLE (3) has the cleanest placing profile, having run second here on debut behind Orchid Tiara, and the Sasagawa-Kokubo combination adds further strength, although she also has to stretch from 800m to 1400m off a four-month break. TAIYO BOND (7) beat Fleur Battle home in the same Urawa debut and was solid at generous odds, so improvement second-up keeps her right in play. YUYU KOKUTOBA (1) is harder to trust after finishing last and beaten over 14 lengths, but the earlier fourth here and weight relief give him a minor-money case if he rebounds.
