COPANO HAMPTON (7) sets the standard in this C1 after stringing together four straight wins, most recently a three-length 3yo+ COND success at Kochi when well fancied. His unbeaten four-from-four track record and perfect association with Shuji Akaoka make him the runner the others have to reach. MEISHO KAZUSA (2) resumes after three months and was only fair as favourite before the break, but his three wins from five starts at this track and distance give him a genuine winning profile if he returns near his better form. SIEG SCHWERT (4) brings the most reliable recent place form, following a one-length second with a closing fourth, and his 1400m Kochi record keeps him firmly in the mix. JOSHO POWER (3) improved into third last start at long odds, though the margin was still five and a half lengths, so he looks more a place threat than a horse to press the top pair unless he finds another lift.
