Strong tempo from Magic Carpet, Genki and That's Gold. An exciting version of the NZ Derby is worth over a million dollars, and AUTUMN GLORY (15), who was runner-up in the NZ Oaks here 2 weeks ago, behind what looks like a superstar in the making, is the one to beat taking on the boys this time. She will be hoping to find a spot not too far off the leaders, and with the fillies weight advantage, she can get the job done. THAT'S GOLD (1) was recently bought by Yulong after winning the Avondale Guineas by over 3 lengths. He has the draw to put himself right on the speed again, and with his brilliant turn of foot, he can complete a hat-trick of wins. ROAD TO PARIS (3) is still inclined to do things wrong in the running, and he was the only one taking ground off the top pick in the same race last time out. The trip won't bother him, and if his mind is on the job, he can win this. AKSIL (2) just peaked on his run here last time out, which is a worry, but he can still run a drum at odds.
