Charlina should lead but there are a few other speedy types who can keep her honest. Easy to make a case for just about every runner. MONTE CRUISE (8) gets the nod after driving hard but just missing last start in a BM74 over 1000m at Nowra. That run followed a six-week let-up. Fitter now and gets all the favours out of gate one. SPARTUS (2) settled worse than midfield and couldn't improve last time out over this distance at Canterbury. Might be a risk at this trip but he is well placed back at the provincials and should go well. KISS GOODNIGHT (9) has not appeared since tailing the field in the $3 million Sunlight at the Gold Coast eight weeks ago. Form prior to that at the provincials was impressive. Expecting a strong run while fresh. Consistent filly CHARLINA (6) is yet to be tested beyond 1000m in nine career runs. Racing well and deserves the benefit of the doubt. CAVALLO PARK (5) has not appeared since winning her maiden at Gosford in November when lining up for only the second time. Recent trial winner who looks to be in for a bright prep. SUGGESTED PLAY: Monte Cruise on top in a tough one.
