A race that lacks early pressure. STARLIGHT TAIL (6) sets the standard among the selections after a sound third over 1400m at Mizusawa and a previous 3yo+ B1 run at Morioka Dirt where he finished off from an impossible spot. The drop back to 850m is supported by his track-and-distance record, making him the runner with the cleanest profile. PRESTO ANGEL (7) is the obvious danger after going under by just under a length here as a well-supported favourite, though her excellent place record at this course and distance has not yet produced a win. CHIHAYABURU RUN (8) has the deepest Mizusawa 850m record of the main hopes and gets in on 52kg, but her recent Morioka Dirt form and defeat behind Starlight Tail leave her with ground to make up. MORION (5) is the fresh runner with the strongest overall strike-rate and a previous Mizusawa win, but she must turn around two heavy Kawasaki defeats to be more than a placing threat.

Makoto Otsubo has won on her, but the 850m record remains only one placing from 12 attempts, so she appeals more for minor money than as a winning play. |

The class drop and past track win give her some context, but she needs conditions to fall kindly before she becomes a serious each-way option. |

She did make some late impression from well back, but the race was gone, and the start prior was weaker when beaten over 10 lengths. Her record at this track and distance and long association with Hidetoshi Abe are positives, yet current form leaves her with plenty to find. |

Her previous sixth behind Black Tornado had more merit, as she charged home late and was beaten three and a half lengths at long odds. She has placed three times from 16 tries at this track and distance, but the lack of winning punch is the main issue. |

SAKAE ISHIKAWA 4YO BROWN FILLY 54.0KG Makio Okada Returns after three months off following two heavy Kawasaki defeats, the latest a last in 3yo+ C2 company when beaten over 13 lengths behind Sekkachi Dragon. Two back she was 12th in 3yo+ C1C2 grade, beaten over 17 lengths at huge odds. The counterweight is a strong six-win record from 20 starts and a win from one Mizusawa visit, so a fresh start for Sakae Ishikawa keeps her in the place conversation. |

Back to a proven 850m setup, with one win and one place from four course-and-distance runs, he brings the most reliable winning profile. |

Six placings from seven tries at this track and distance make her a strong contender, provided she converts that consistency. |

The 52kg helps, but she must rebound sharply to justify her chance. |
