LYRA BOND (9) sets the standard on current form, having resumed with a half-length win over 1400m at Kochi as an odds-on favourite after also scoring here in July. The rise to 1900m is the clear test, but his three-from-three record at the track and winning habit make him the horse to beat. SANONO ESPO (12) is the main danger, with her fourth at Nagoya following a head defeat at Sonoda, and her Kochi record gives her a strong platform. SUNRISE HOPE (10) produced the eye-catching turnaround last start when beaten a neck at big odds after a plain Sonoda run, so he is dangerous if that return to form holds. ESKEN DREAM (2) looks the next most reliable, especially after a late-closing fourth in 3yo+ A2 grade and a prior second here as favourite.

Three wins from three starts at Kochi is compelling; 1900m is the new question, but he is clearly the benchmark. |
