ROYAL RANT (4) missed the placings two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 1600m at Vaal, beaten 3 lengths. Looks well placed so expect another big run. UP AND UP (3) remains a maiden after five runs. Was one of the favoured runners last time but could only manage to finish fourth over 1200m at Vaal. Great chance to break through. LIFE AND LETTERS (1) has been racing in great heart with two top-three finishes on end, the latest a third over 1800m at this track when she was always up in the leading division. Gets chance. PURPLE RAIN (2) finished second last start at the first run back from a spell over 1450m at this track, beaten 1.3 lengths. Should take a lot from that hit-out. Can fill another top-three spot.
