Strong tempo from Newy, Fancy Shoulder and Contaldo. NEWY (4) sets the standard after a narrow third in a CG BM64 at Newcastle on heavy ground two runs back, and two trials since, including a solid third at Wyong, give him a strong base for first-up. The wide barrier and top weight are challenges but he goes on top. FANCY SHOULDER (7) needs to bounce back from a disappointing Coffs Harbour effort but has a decisive previous win at Port Macquarie on soft ground and returns to a better trip. CONTALDO (5) resumes after a longer break with solid class references, but his wet-track record raises concerns. BJORN IRONSIDE (3) was better last time but will need some luck from the draw. SUGGESTED PLAY: Newy to win.
