No recognised leader engaged but Blue Rata Warea has the pace to work to the front. MAKAROV (2) had to be tough to win on debut at Hastings, and he has been given plenty of time to get over that effort. He is bred to continue to improve with more racing, and the step up to 1650m from 1400m will suit him down to the ground. On top again. PLATINUM SIXTY SIX (1) has not won for some time, but his form through the winter solely on the Awapuni poly track has been very solid. His turf stats are just as good, so expect another honest effort here. MALLEABLE (5) was back in from when dropping down to 1600m from 2040m last time out, and for now that is his optimum trip as he continues to mature. A wide gate is no help, but he is still a top 4 chance. DUPUG (8) has not had much go his way in his last couple of starts, and a firmer surface would do him no harm. There will be no fitness excuses fourth up from a spell, and a form reversal would not be a surprise to us. SUGGESTED PLAY: Dupug each way value.
