Strong tempo with Love Deusa, Ike and Nasiriyah leading the way. NASIRIYAH (7) earns top billing after holding on by a head at Mizusawa as favourite, and that win came at just his third career start. The small margin leaves a little room for others to challenge, but he has scope and the recent form is the right shape. TAISEI GIGAS (6) made the biggest last-start statement, winning by six lengths here as a well-supported favourite, and the turnaround from his Niigata run was substantial. KAMINO TEIO (2) is another last-start Mizusawa winner, having closed strongly to score by a length after a sound third at Morioka Dirt. GOLD FREEDOM (10) looks the next serious danger, with a dominant Morioka Dirt win two starts back and a third since, though he still has to lift from that latest beaten-five-length effort.

The record with Shinobu Murakami reads well, and if he stays within striking range he has the closing form to be a major player. |

Lightly raced and third-up, he looks one of the main winning chances despite still having to prove himself at 1400m. |
