Genuine tempo with the speedy Golden Copper leading the way. KID BILLY (5) is the top seed after a much sharper BM58 second at Coffs Harbour, beaten half a length after racing wide in the middle stages. Gets weight relief here and looms a big threat. LENSMAN (3) also commands respect third-up after working into the race nicely for second at Coffs Harbour, and his two wins from three starts at this distance make the rise to 1506m a genuine positive rather than a leap of faith. LISTINS LASS (6) has returned two useful efforts, including a Wyong second at big odds and a close fourth at Tuncurry despite some early steadiness, so she has the form to threaten if she gets clear running. GOLDEN COPPER (7)'s recent finishing positions are plain, but she was beaten just over two lengths at Lismore on soft ground and owns three wins on wet tracks. DREYMON (8) is knocking on the door and deserves respect. Drawn sticky, so watch for him late. SUGGESTED PLAY: Kid Billy gets the nod.
