Race 8 1400m Track: |
||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Moderate tempo with Meisho Kaikon leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. NAMURA TEDDIE (1) gets top billing after producing a big-odds Sonoda win in 3yo+ B1 company, beating Bellagio Gulf by a nose and giving Meisho Kaikon a recent target to overturn. The narrow margin keeps the race open, but the form is current and the 1400m record is sound. MEISHO KAIKON (5) is the clear danger: he has been third at his past two in similar grade, was respected in betting both times, and his Sonoda 1400m record with this jockey reads very well. BUCHI A (3) brings winning B2 form after beating Tagano Tetsu here and had also run second at big odds the start before, though this is a stronger test. VOLA VIA (6) is included on the shortlist but must improve sharply off two heavy defeats.

NAMURA TEDDIE
MICHIO TANAKA 6YO GREY HORSE 54.0KG Mutsuhiro Namura Returned to winning form at Sonoda last start, landing a 3yo+ B1 over 1400m by a nose from Bellagio Gulf at big odds after a tight battle late. The start prior he was fourth behind June Kiitos, beaten six and a half lengths when unwanted in the market. He has traded results with Meisho Kaikon recently, and his five wins at the distance give the latest win genuine weight despite the narrow margin. |

COPANO MADELINE
TADAAKI HASHIMOTO 4YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Sachiaki Kobayashi Dropped right out after holding a commanding lead at Sonoda last start, finishing a distant last behind Z Silvia at big odds. Her previous run was only marginally better, sixth behind Add One and beaten eight lengths at long odds. She is unplaced in four attempts at this track and distance and has yet to place this season, so a major turnaround is required. |

BUCHI A
TETSUHARU KURIBAYASHI 6YO CHESTNUT MARE 55.0KG Built strongly through her latest two Sonoda runs, following a big-odds second behind Danon Oneup with a 3yo+ B2 win over this course and distance, beating Tagano Tetsu by half a length. She is well exposed here with five wins and ten placings from 36 attempts at the track and trip. The higher-quality B1 contest is the test, but her recent form makes her a genuine place player. |

PUNTA CANA
Shingo Oyama 5YO BROWN MARE 55.0KG Yuki Hashimoto Returns from a three-month break after a plain Ohi run over 2000m, finishing tenth behind Cosmo Magallanica and beaten over 17 lengths after giving away too much start. She had been a well-supported favourite at Ohi over 1800m before that but was beaten nine and a half lengths. Her overall record is strong, yet the drop back to 1400m and recent efforts make this a demanding return. |

MEISHO KAIKON
TOMOTAKA MORISAWA 5YO BROWN HORSE 57.0KG Yoshio Matsumoto Continues to race consistently, placing at both Sonoda runs this campaign in 3yo+ B1 company and beaten just over three lengths each time. He was near the top of betting when third behind Namura Teddie last start, having led and been run down late by June Kiitos the run prior. Four wins and four placings from eleven at this track and distance, plus a strong jockey pairing, make him a major threat. |

VOLA VIA
AKIHIRO INADA 4YO DK B HORSE 56.0KG Takafumi Tomoyama Has the class-drop tag in his favour, but the recent Sonoda evidence is hard to ignore. He was seventh behind Namura Teddie last start, beaten over 15 lengths at long odds, and had been last behind Z Silvia by a similar margin the run before. He also meets Namura Teddie and Meisho Kaikon again off that defeat, so only a clear lift brings him into the minor-money mix. |

SHINGITAI
IKKOO TANAKA 4YO CHESTNUT GELDING 57.0KG Shinji Hodota Has been well beaten in both runs this campaign, most recently last in a 3yo+ ALLOW over 1800m at Chukyo Dirt when beaten out of sight at big odds. The start prior he was second last over 1200m and unwanted in the market. Coming back to 1400m is a more suitable setup on the supplied tags, but he needs to rediscover form quickly to trouble these. |

BOOYAKA
MASAYOSHI MOZAKI 5YO DK B GELDING 57.0KG Yoichi Aoyama Made some late ground from well back when fifth behind Z Silvia at Sonoda last start, beaten six and a half lengths after being unwanted in the market. Two back he was third in the same grade, beaten just over three lengths at big odds, so there is at least a recent placing on the page. With no wins from six at this track and distance, he still needs more than a late finish. |
